UN Resolution for International Day of Hope

Hope is Now Recognized at the United Nations!

We are thrilled to announce that the International Day of Hope has been officially recognized by the United Nations and will now be celebrated on July 12th!

Hope is not just a feeling but a teachable, measurable skill that transforms lives. Our Founder, Kathryn Goetzke, spoke of ‘why’ we need an International Day of Hope at the United Nations at a Children’s event for mental health.

We extend our deepest gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Teburoro Tito of the Kiribati Mission to the United Nations for their incredible leadership in championing resolution A/79/L.54, turning the vision into a reality.

Watch Ambassador Tito address the United Nations for why this resolution is critical.

As Ambassador Tito mentioned, 161 countries supported it, four abstained (India, Paraguay, Peru, and Türkiye), and one single country voted against it (the United States).

The United States made a statement about why it voted no. We aim to address those concerns and suggest a revised resolution, as we need all hands on deck for Hope. As 57% of teen girls in the US identify with persistent hopelessness, ensuring all know how to Hope is more important than ever.

We are immensely grateful to the organizations and advocates who have supported this movement. We need all hands on deck for Hope. So sign up for the newsletter, mark your calendars for July 12, measure your Hope, and prepare to start activating Hope in your community today.
